RV inspector

We recently had the coach we’re purchasing professionally inspected by Grant Carroll of GCRV Inspections.

I just posted a review of his services on Google. I like to own my own content, so here’s a copy of my review text. Yes, I meant every word:

After searching for a 40-foot Tiffin motorhome for several months, we found a perfect one. With any RV, especially with an expensive luxury one like this, we know it is very important to get it professionally inspected, to make sure there aren’t any significant issues, to be aware of any minor ones that can be easily fixed, and get the various fluids lab tested to check on the lifeblood of the coach.

We found Grant via the National RV Inspectors Association (NRVIA), and got in touch. We were immediately impressed by Grant’s prompt and informative emails, and pleased that he was comfortable with email communication, my preferred medium.

As it turned out, the purchase of that first RV fell through before Grant could inspect it, but we soon found another excellent coach, and got Grant to inspect it. He spent over a day going through every system of the coach, compiling a 369 page report resplendent with hundreds of photos and 38 videos, showing what he tested, along with helpful advice.

And that was just his report; he followed up with the five reports from the lab, with the results of the fluid tests.

Between his detailed report and the fluid tests, we are able to continue with the purchase with confidence that we know the minor issues with it, which we find acceptable, and a great baseline for the future.

We were more than satisfied with Grant’s professional assistance and manner; before, during, and after the inspection. We would be happy to recommend him to anyone buying an RV, and will use his services again in the future for a subsequent RV.

Purchase underway

As mentioned, we took a look at a coach on Sunday, spending a couple of hours looking over it, taking lots of pictures, and going for a test drive. We liked what we saw, so did a purchase agreement for it.

We will get it professionally inspected this Friday, and should complete the purchase at the beginning of September.

Again, I’ll hold off sharing info about it until we have possession, but you can bet I’ll post lots of pictures then.

Meanwhile, we’re busy sorting things for taking, storing, selling, etc, and other preparations. Only a couple of weeks left!

Let’s try that again: looking at another RV

Tomorrow we’ll be doing a seven-hour roundtrip to check out a coach that looks like a very good fit for us.

If it looks as good in person as the pictures, we plan to purchase it, with a deposit to hold it till after our house closes at the end of the month.

I won’t share any pictures until it’s actually ours, though, just in case. I’m sure I’ll do several posts detailing its features then.

Wish us luck!

It’s alive!

This new blog is finally working. Yay! Now we just need an RV.

We did have a purchase agreement for one for about a week, but the seller pulled out due to changing health issues. Very disappointing. So now we’re looking for other options. We still have time….
