A pretty smooth drive from an eventfulness point of view… but anything but smooth from a road quality point of view. The cement freeway north of San Jose was horribly rutty.
Lassen Volcanic National Park is closed currently, other than the visitor centers just inside the southwest and northwest entrances. So we visited both in our pickup truck, taking a route outside the park that took about an hour. It was an interesting drive, so I thought I’d share a timelapse.

Watch out for fun hills, the California border, the border inspection station, and fueling and weighing at Love’s, plus the campgrounds at either end.
